How United Methodist Churches are Organized
The Leadership Board is the administrative decision-making body of the local church.
The Board is responsible for articulating the church’s vision for spiritual formation, outreach, witness, and resources,
and evaluating the implementation of that vision.
In consultation with the congregation, ministry leaders, and ministry teams, the Board oversees the church’s mission and ministry
at a high level to ensure the vision, plan, and actions of the church are effectively administered.
Our Leadership Board is made up of three classes of three people each. Each class serves for three years.
Leadership Board members are nominated for this work by the Committee on Nominations and Leadership Development

The United Methodist Connection
United Methodists are connectional. This "enables us to carry out our mission in unity and strength" (The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church). Every local church is linked to an interconnected network of organizations that join together in mission and ministry, allowing us to accomplish far more than any one local church or person could alone. Click here to learn more.
Local Church
As the visible presence of the body of Christ, the local church is the place where members grow in faith and discipleship, putting their faith into action through ministry in the world.
Annual Conference
The annual conference is a geographical entity, an organizational body (made up of elected lay and clergy members), and a yearly meeting. It is the fundamental body of the church.
In the United States, a conference may cover an entire state, only part of the state, or parts of two or more states.

District
Each local church is part of a district, which is an administrative grouping of churches in a geographic area.
Fairview is part of the North Central District.

General Conference
As the primary legislative body, General Conference is the only entity with the authority to speak on behalf of the entire United Methodist Church. The General Conference meets every four years to consider the business and mission of the church. An equal number of lay and clergy delegates are elected from United Methodist conferences around the world to decide matters of policy and procedure for the denomination.
